Mentoring Men For Their Whole Life

“I don’t need someone telling me what to do”

“My Dad figured it out”

“The world is about survival, I’ll learn it, or not”

But talk with men who are self-aware enough to know the truth of what they don’t know, and you’ll find men eager to engage in a mentor friendship where they can get help.

Men in Today’s World

The way man-hood is presented in western culture today, it’s almost like you have to have life figured out or you’re not in control.  You may be good with finances, but terrible with relationships.  So while you make a load of money at the office, your marriage might be suffering at home.  And if given enough time, you may find yourself in a world spiraling out of control before you even know what happened.

I’ve had several friends who sacrificed their own marriage for the very dimension they thought was most important.  And in the end, they don’t know their wife, they are alienated from their kids, and they look out into the landscape of life and ask, “Is this all there is?”

That’s where Whole Life Mentorship comes in.

Mentoring Men in Every Dimension of Life

For the last decade, I’ve been working with the Leadership By Design model of Whole Life Mentoring.  I started in my early 20’s and now I’m almost 40 and I don’t know what I would have done without it.  LDG has given me a framework for being a Whole Man in today’s culture.  They’ve invited me to a place where I can be confident in the things I know, and aware of the things I don’t.  And Men like me need that.

We need a place where we can see the things we know intuitively to be true, and we need a place where someone else can highlight the areas we try to hide.  For me, when I started with LDG, emotionally I was a wreck.  I didn’t know who I was.  I didn’t feel the freedom to be who I am.  And I looked around me at successful men to try and imitate their lives.  It wasn’t until I pressed into the emotional dimension, I found the freedom of connection to be me, and that was enough.

I’ve worked with other men who are looking for the meaning in their vocation, still others longing for connection with their wife, or maybe even a few who need space where they can explore those dreams they had as younger men-full of life and potential.

For the most part Men are quiet creatures.  We don’t try and make a big deal out of things that aren’t supposed to be big deals.  But inside every man is a warrior waiting to find a place to be all that he was created to be.
If you’re a man hiding behind the thin vale of “everything is ok,” but deep inside you wonder what might happen when everyone finds out about you,  I would encourage you to step into a Deep Transformational Mentor relationship where you can find out all that you were made to be.
